Dysfunctional families have often been a part of many Television shows, but we are still hooked to the Bundys, who started this genre for the small screen audience. You guessed that right - we are talking about the show 'Married...with Children,' which made us laugh out loud for 11 seasons.
While it was fun to watch the 'atypical' housewife Peggy do nothing but insult her husband, Al Bundy, and Officer Dan showing up every once in a while to keep things light - it's even more interesting to know what these 80s and 90s stars are doing after saying goodbye to their legendary characters. You would be surprised to see how much these MWC stars have changed!
Christina Applegate
Christina Applegate is an award-winning actress with several accolades to her name. As an A-list celebrity, people believed she coasted through her career without worry, but it turns out she was battling a critical illness all this time. Thankfully, she conquered it and have moved on to star in films like 'Bad Moms' and 'Crash Pad.'
But out of all the roles Applegate has played over the years, her true fans could never forget how she brought Kelly Bundy to life. She became every young guy's dream girl at that time, and she still is today!
Amanda Bearse
Amanda Bearse is not a new name in the acting and directing world! As an actress, she particularly gave two performances that left a lifetime remark on her fans - one, her role of Marcy Rhoades D'Arcy in the comedy sitcom Married... with Children, and the other one in a horror movie called Fright Night.
Since childhood, Bearse wanted to pursue arts. With a clear vision in mind, she completed her acting degree from Neighborhood Playhouse, New York City. We are glad Bearse chose this field and never looked back! But it'd have been impossible if not for her debut in the 1982 soap opera named All My Children.
E.E Bell
E.E Bell is known for his short and sweet appearances in popular Disney shows like 'Sonny with a Chance,' and 'It's Christmas.' His work in popular shows' Drake and Josh' and 'How I Met Your Mother' was also highly appreciated. Given his diverse acting skills, we have possibly seen him in all kinds of genres, from suspense to commercial movies.
All of this was only possible after his successful act as Bob Rooney, the butcher in 'Married…With Children.' One fascinating and notable fact from the show is that Bell's character was always called by the full name throughout, which added even more humor!
David Garrison
David Garrison invested himself wholeheartedly in theater and had a successful career as a stage actor. He was a part of musicals like 'Guys and Dolls' and several popular Broadway shows like the celebrated ''Titanic.' Looking at David now, we can say that his decision to leave the show 'Married…with Children' did him good and took him to where his heart truly belonged.
He played the character of Steve, who was Macy's first husband and the neighbor of the Bundy family. The character had a complete geeky vibe, one of the most loved traits by the audience.
Ted McGinley
One of the most prominent actors in the family sitcom genre, Ted McGinley, has been slowly racking up an impressive line of acting credits in his long career. From television shows like 'Dynasty' and 'The Love Boat' to voice-over acting jobs for a string of animated projects, the classically handsome Ted is not one to shy away from diversifying as a performer.
The veteran thespian has experienced exceptional professional longevity, having been an active and respected member of the showbiz community for nearly three decades. But for many of us, he will always and forever be the iconic Jefferson D'arcy from 'Married... with Children.'
Harold Sylvester
Oh, how we loved Harold Sylvester's character, Griff, who split with his wife and worked with Al at Gary's shoe store instead. Although Al and his friends were known to have loads of issues with their wives, Harold was pretty neutral and more understanding than his male counterparts. We really appreciated his fair judgments throughout seasons 9 to 11.
The man had various other roles on television like 'City of Angels' and 'CSI: Miami' and 'The Army Show' as well. Sadly, Harold decided to retire in 2015, but not before making history as the only African-American to receive a scholarship in athletics at the University of Tulane. Impressive!
Jerry Hall
It is safe to say that Jerry Hall got everything that she wanted in life - a successful career as a model and getting married to the man of her dreams. No wonder she ended up writing a book on her life! While she lives a busy life now, back then, she could spare time for a cameo role or two.
If you are still scratching your head, trying to figure when Hall appeared on 'MWC' - she played the woman who tries to woo Al with her beauty in the first season. Little did anyone on that set know that she was going to be a sensation at the time!
Eva LaRue
Eva LaRue is an actress who is well known for her role of Dr. Maria in 'All My Children.' Besides, she enthralled audiences with her acting in 'CSI: Miami,' 'Criminal Minds,' and 'Mack & Moxy.' Her three decades of effort in the industry paid off in 2020 when she won a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance.
The prolific star's TV career began with the show 'Santa Barbara,' and its popularity gave her an invite to appear on 'Married…with Children.' Although it was a small role as a dancer named Carrie, it paved the way for her to star in some of the other famous soap operas of the time.
Eric Dane
Eric Dane's brief appearance on Married… with Children' opened various opportunities for him, and soon Eric had a variety of successful roles in acting for which he gained immense name and fame. The handsome man also played the part of Dr. Sloan on 'Grey's Anatomy' and even on 'Private Practice.' He is married with two children and is living with model turned actress Rebecca Gayheart.
Eric appeared just once in the series in season nine. He played the part of Oliver Cole alongside Mark Campbell at Trumaine University's radio station. The show did come to an abrupt halt, but they had the best time running it!
Vanna White
Before Vanna White decided to change people's lives in 'Wheel of Fortune,' she played the hilarious Coco, who offers half a million dollars to Peggy in exchange for Al. Her part on the show was one of the many things she did in the '80s that included writing an autobiography and starring in video games.
A relentless White continues to be associated with 'Wheel of Fortune' to date, where she took over the role of Pat Sajak for a brief period. Given her association with the show, her bank balance and retirement are surely taken care of!
Dan Tullis Jr.
Here is another pal of AI known for being a crooked cop in the downtown neighborhood. Dan Tullis busts and jails AI and his mate when they break into a TV studio, but then quickly changes his mind about it when Dan realizes the episodes involve feminism cases. He then orders Springer to stay tied up. These antics made Officer Dan fun to watch on the show, and he truly kept us entertained throughout.
Later though, he quit the acting game entirely and decided to make an impact on radio and television and even works as a spokesperson for a life insurance company called 'Selectquote.'
Ian Ziering
You might know Ian Ziering from his time on 'Dancing with the Stars' and for lending his voice for 'Spider-man: The New Animated Series,' but his journey started much earlier. He debuted with Tom Cruise in 'Endless Love.' That was enough to get the attention of casting directors, and in the next three decades, the titles rolled with his name in at least two dozen films.
Along the way, Ian also played a small part in 'MWC' as a geeky baseball-watcher. Like Tiffani Thiessen, he was also picked for the show from the 'Beverly Hills 90210,' a series that featured him for nearly a decade!
Pamela Anderson
There are no prizes for telling us how well Pamela Anderson's career turned out! It is a little known fact that the actress had not one but two cameo appearances in the 'MWC' world. As a testament to her beauty, in both instances, she appears in Al's dreams as a woman of his fantasies.
By featuring on magazine covers and the ever-popular TV show 'Baywatch,' Anderson established herself in the show business. With several new project works and animal rights activism in the offing, she certainly seems to be having the time of her life.
Cheech Marin
Cheech Marin appeared only thrice in the series, and only his voice was featured as he articulated the Bundy Family doggo. Buck usually acted like an average dog, but there were times when he entertained us. That happened when he hilariously expressed his disappointment when the family neglected him every now and then!
Cheech remained super active with his various ventures as a voice actor and even a stand-up comedian since then. If you did not know this before, he voiced Ramone in 'Cars' and even a hyena in 'The Lion King!' He was even part of a comedy duo named 'Cheech & Chong.' How truly interesting!
Tiffani Thiessen
After her appearance on the show, Tiffani Thiessen got more opportunities and even had her most famous role, Kelly Kapowski, in the hit show ' Saved by the Bell,' among many others. The stunner is now the mother of two kids and wife of Brady Smith.
Tiffani is the pretty brunette who played Heather McCoy, aka Bud's love interest in a season 4 episode. The most memorable scene of their courtship remains to be the time when Heather and Bud went on a midnight adventure out to the river, and she pranks him by hanging his underwear on a flagpole. Oh, the good old days when 'MWC' was a thing!
Ed O'Neill
The big-built Ed O'Neill is most known for his role as the anti-social patriarch on 'MWC's 'Bundy Family.' Although most fathers in TV shows have a reputation for being level-headed, responsible., and even a little too mature for entertainment's liking, this dad was a total failure and wouldn't necessarily be known as a good husband nor father! Maybe that is why we enjoyed watching him on TV- because he was atypical and interesting!
But, Ed did not limit himself just to acting either; he was an a-okay voice-over artist in Television advertisements and even animated films. A man with multiple talents, we say!
Gary Coleman
Here is yet another actor who only made a brief appearance on 'MWC' in a single episode on 'How Green Was My Apple,' but managed to imprint on us forever. Gary stepped in to resolve a small dispute between the Bundy and D'Arcy families, but that was enough for us to have mad respect for his ability to portray a role with incredible accuracy.
Gary had the opportunity to flaunt his skills in many other TV shows as well before his sudden and untimely passing. He had many seizures that finally ended up taking his life in 2010.
Juliet Tablak
Remember Amber from 'MWC's 9th season? Yes, we are talking about the pretty bronde who left the show without any explanation. If you are wondering what Juliet Tablak is up to now and why she disappeared, read on to find out.
Well, it turns out that the main reason for her exit was because Juliet had a lot of other aspirations and dreams to pursue. She wanted to learn to fly and become a pilot! Her dreams have taken a different turn since then, and the stunner has nonetheless become a successful chiropractor and even holds pilates classes in California.
Jerry Springer
Jerry Springer is the firebrand host who graced shows like 'America's Got Talent' and many Miss World pageants. But the septuagenarian's most popular show is still 'The Jerry Springer Show' - the reality program where disputes were put to bed. Later, he moved to the upgraded set of 'Judge Jerry,' where he settled arbitrations on television.
He worked as a lawyer before he decided to change his career and try acting for television. Subsequently, an opportunity to play a fictional host knocked on his door, and Jerry gladly obliged to play a 'masculine feminist' on MWC!
Ben Stein
You would be shocked to hear this, but while most people in this list are professional actors, Ben Stein is a lawyer and writer with incredible acclaim. Upon finishing his degree at law school, he worked as a speechwriter, and his monotonous voice aided him in being successful there. Still, when the gentleman is not providing his services as a panelist, he likes to take up acting roles.
Stein only appeared in one 'MWC' episode, but that was enough for fans to remember him. When the pet doggo of the Bundy Family goes up to dog heaven, it meets with a chicken, whose part was played by Ben.
Jane Lynch
Jane Lynch's awkward character roles and unbecoming dialogues were a comedic marvel at the time. So, when makers of 'MWC' approached her for a guest spot, she was naturally inclined to play a similar part on screen. That's how she ended up being Greta on TV, a confused rich woman who is nothing but inappropriate.
While Lynch's characters diversified with time, so did the awards! In the last two decades, she has won a Primetime Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe, and many other accolades. She has already hit the sixty mark, but this list only seems to be getting longer!
Tonya Watts
When she first appeared in a prominent television role playing Scarlet on 'Married...with Children' in a two-part special, no one could have guessed that Tonya Watts would give up acting. Tall, blonde, and statuesque, she was a shoo-in for a great career as an actress, but the multi-talented performer chose a somewhat different calling in life.
It wasn't until she played country music superstar Dolly Parton in a television film that Tonya realized her real dream was to become a country musician herself. Tapping into her Southern country roots, the versatile singer has garnered sizeable wealth and a loyal fanbase for herself in music.
Teresa Ganzel
Audiences may remember Teresa Ganzel as the ditzy blonde Heather on 'Married...with Children', but the charming actress has offered countless unforgettable performances in her career. Armed with a razor-sharp wit and perfect comedic timing, she is perhaps the best-known cast member of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Carson.'
Her luxuriously lustrous golden hair and ever-youthful appearance have kept her in-demand for screen roles. But Teresa has consciously veered towards voice-over acting jobs over the years, bagging roles in such box office successes as the 'Toy Story' and 'Despicable Me' franchises.
Jeanne Basone
Professional wrestler, model, and stuntwoman Jeane Basone better and more aptly known by her ring name of 'Hollywood,' was the first lady of wrestling in the '80s. Being among the first GLOW Girls to be hired, Jeane was the undisputed star of the ring for her four seasons with the 'Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling.'
A naturally gifted athlete, it comes as no surprise that the robust beauty branched into a successful career as a stuntwoman earning a fair degree of success. Given her distinctive allure on-camera, it comes as no surprise that Jeane even landed herself a role on the hit show 'Married...With Children' playing a wrestler.
Tia Carrere
Tia Carrere didn't play a major role in 'Married… with Children' as she only appeared in a single episode; however, her character, Piper Bauman, was a memorable one! Perhaps it's because she was pitted against the main character - and not just anyone, but Kelly Bundy.
Film producers and directors must have noticed her talent as her career took off just after that brief stint. Since then, Carrere has never limited herself in acting alone, especially after lending her lovely voice to animated films like 'Lilo & Stitch.' It goes to show one can do anything if you set your mind to it!
Tina Louise
With her first breakout role being Miss Beck, a casting director on 'MWC,' Tina Louise was all set to conquer the world of television. Her immensely popular television series 'Gilligan's Island' became a pop culture phenomenon until it's untimely cancellation.
But the persistent and determined actress kept her head held high and snagged one coveted role after another on several major TV series including 'Dallas' and 'Nightmare in Badham County.' Despite her many successes and fortune, Tina has remained a humble and hard-working member of the acting community year after year.
Elizabeth Keifer
A talented staple in television soap operas, Elizabeth Keifer's acting career has brought her abundant wealth and fame. The gorgeous brunette has appeared on the most iconic soap operas in TV history like 'The Young And The Restless' and 'Days of Our Lives.'
As movie parts from Hollywood came calling, Elizabeth became one of the rare examples of an actor successfully transitioning to the big screen late into their career. But successful Hollywood star or not, we will always remember Elizabeth for her breakout performance as Ginger in the iconic series 'Married...with Children.'
Milla Jovovich
When Milla Jovovich first snagged the audience's attention as Yvette, the French foreign exchange student in a one-episode appearance on 'MWC' TV, viewers were enthralled. The captivating brunette beauty with the luxuriously flawlessly-looking skin would dominate the worlds of modeling and Hollywood action films in the coming years.
Ranking among the world's highest-paid and most sought after models during her time in the fashion industry, Milla had no shortage of fans or wealth in her life. Her impressive acting resume includes global box office smash hit films like the 'Resident Evil' movie franchise.
Morgan Brittany
Beginning her acting career at a remarkably young age, Morgan Brittany had already worked with Hollywood legend Gene Kelly and bagged a modeling contract with a leading agency all by the time she was 18. Lucrative spokesmodel deals with luxury brands like 'L'Oreal' and 'Maybelline' significantly added to her wealth and international fame.
Many fans still fondly remember her appearance on the sitcom 'Married...with Children' where she played Marilyn Beamis, a former romantic interest of one of the show's characters. But Morgan has since then gone on to become a daytime television icon.
Sherrie Rose
With over 60 film credits to her name, some people may remember Sherrie Rose from her portrayal of the vivacious neighbor Mandi in the hit sitcom 'MWC.' But the talented actress has gone on to foray into the world of writing, directing, and producing with considerable success.
The road-drama that she wrote, produced, directed, and co-starred in 'Me & Will' opened to rave reviews at several film festivals, cementing her reputation as a serious filmmaker. Though she has had consistent wealth and accolades pouring in, for some of us, Sherrie will always be the quintessential and unforgettable mysterious neighbor, Mandi, to us.
David Boreanaz
David Boreanaz was far from being a vampire when he signed up for playing Frank in his first-ever TV gig- an episode of ‘MWC’ called ‘Movie Show.’ Unlike his usual roles, his character was that of a bad boy who invokes the wrath of Al after ditching Kelly. Just four years after this appearance, he became a household name as Angel from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’
Amidst heavy downpour in November of 2001, Boreanaz got hitched to the popular model Jaime Bergman, and both have been together till date. Now, the ‘Bones’ star is busy being a producer and getting his kids ready for school every day!
Krista Allen
As far as actresses go, Krista Allen is a real veteran! Her acting gigs range from soap operas to sitcoms, making her a well-rounded star. Fans may know her from 'Days of Our Lives' as Billie Reed, but Allen's humble beginnings date back to an appearance in 'MWC'!
In one of the show's most sensitive episodes, Allen portrayed Crystal Clark, a potential love interest for Bud Bundy. Both had exciting chemistry onscreen, but the smitten lad was heartbroken after discovering his crush's true identity. Too bad, it turned out to be a classic case of young love gone wrong!
Denise Richards
Denise Richards starred on 'Married…With Children' when she was 20, and her role was so tiny that it did not even get a name. She played the second girl in the episode 'Kelly Does Hollywood: Part 2' in which the Bundy family heads to California, so Kelly gets a chance to pursue a career in entertainment.
Since then, there has been no stopping Richards as this talented actress and model bagged several major projects like 'The World Is Not Enough's Bond girl. Her journey from being an unnamed character to being a well-known personality is incredible!
Traci Lords
Despite being in the industry for over three and a half decades, Tracy Lords shows no signs of stopping. Throughout her career, she found herself working on three to four projects simultaneously. And yet, she found the time to pen an autobiography titled 'Traci Lords: Underneath It All'!
Lords is one of the few guest stars who feature in 'MWC' more than once - as an assistant at the dentist's clinic and as Vanessa Van Pelt. That speaks volumes about how sought-after she was in that period. The actress has over a hundred acting credits to her name that include 'Blade,' 'Underworld,' and 'Devil May Call.'
Katey Sagal
Out of all her roles, Katey Sagal is best known as Peggy, the Bundy family's matriarch in 'MWC.' The audience loved her sassy attitude, hysterical antics, and constant dislike for domestic chores. We could always see her with a box of chocolates, watching her favorite talk show, and we absolutely loved it!
After this, her journey has been quite a fulfilling one, especially in the television industry. She bagged a role in the show '8 Simple Rules' and even lent her voice to 'Futurama.' Her brief appearances in 'Lost,' 'Glee' and 'The Big Bang Theory' remain very noteworthy.
Fergie
Before becoming a hip hop sensation with the acclaimed band 'Black Eyed Peas,' Fergie starred in numerous TV shows as a voice actor. In 1994, she was asked to play Ann in the eighth season of 'MWC.' It led to her becoming a seasoned guest actress, and she continued to do cameo roles until the early 2010s.
After parting ways with the 'Boom Boom Pow' hitmakers in 2018, Fergie forged a successful career as a solo singer and even performed at the NBA All-Star Game's opening. With her endless list of talents, we are wondering what her next move would be!
Debbe Dunning
Even though Debbe Dunning was seen only in season five of 'Married…with Children' as Rochelle, her gripping acting skills and, of course, her pretty face grabbed all our attention! After this brief appearance on the show, she bagged several television roles that left the audience stunned by her work, as usual.
Dunning's claim to fame was on the sitcom, 'Home Improvement' as the Tool Time girl, which later got her roles on 'The Jamie Foxx Show' and 'Wicked Wicked Games.' She has always been a treat to watch, and all the fans dearly miss her presence on screen!
David Faustino
Bud Bundy would not have been an iconic character if it wasn't for David Faustino's crazy antics. No one could ever replace him as the nerdy but charming guy who added so much life to the show! Fans loved Bud for being a relatable character, and that stands true even years after the sitcom ended.
As an actor, Faustino has kept a relatively active career through the years, and even reprised his legendary role twice in two spin-off shows! Bud may be long gone, but it's obvious people can't get enough of him.
Alan Thicke
How Alan Thicke agreed to play not one, but two guest roles on the show is a mystery till date! He appeared as Henry, the businessman, in season 10 and as Bruce in the very next one. Thanks to the sitcom 'Growing Pains,' the actor was an instantly recognizable figure at the time.
In the following decades, he established himself as the go-to host for game shows and interviews like 'Pictionary' and 'The Alan Thicke Show.' Unfortunately, in a devastating blow to the TV world, Alan passed away while playing hockey with his son in 2016.
Matt LeBlanc
We cannot get away by missing the popular 'Friends' star, can we? Matt LeBlanc was an instant sensation when he first appeared as Kelly's boyfriend in 'MWC.' Producers adored his character so much that numerous attempts were made to create a spin-off for him. While none managed to take off, he did get the biggest role of his life in the subsequent years.
After 'Friends' ended, Matt tried his hand on many shows, but none managed to replicate the success of his former role. But our beloved Joey found his footing once again in 2011 with 'Episodes,' a show that earned him a Golden Globe and four Emmy nominations.
Karen Lynn Scott
Following her 'MWC' days, Karen Lynn Scott made steady headway with TV shows like 'Seinfeld' and 'Herman's Head.' Much to the surprise of everyone, her role as Mary in 'Hidden Hills' turned out to be the last one of her career.
While her name might have faded away from the media spotlight and the internet, we still remember her role as an annoying aunt. She played the gold-digging wife of Al's deceased uncle and got her way in all kinds of situations. Surprisingly, she returned in the 10th season of the show as a completely different character called Dina.
Teresa Parente
Before retiring from the acting world, Teresa Parente had made upwards of 40 appearances as an actress. The diverse genre of projects include ones like 'Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,' 'Friends' and 'Without a Trace,' and even a voice role in 'Spongebob Squarepants.'
Parente was probably the most memorable recurring cast member of 'Married…with Children' for playing 'Miranda Veracruz de la Hoya Cardenal,' a reporter known for covering pathetic news besides the super long name. After her first appearance, fans loved her character so much that she reprised the role eight more times in the show.
Keri Russell
Keri Russell is mostly known for her character, Felicity, from the show of the same name. The series was such a hit that it earned her a much-coveted 'Golden Globe' award! Well, Russell can certainly credit her success to an impressive acting resume, which surprisingly included an episode on 'MWC.'
It's only one of the few small parts that paved the way for Russell's career, yet it opened many doors for her. Playing the role of a university student named April Adams, she became Bud Bundy's sweetheart. That didn't work out in the end, though, after she rejected the poor guy!
Brandi Brandt
Brandi Brandt's cameo in the 'Desperately Seeking Miss October' episode was arguably the most famous one at the time. It was her popularity as a cover girl that led her to 'MWC,' where she played a fictional version of herself. After leaving her magazine days behind, she went on to forge a fairly successful career for herself in the field of acting.
The star made headlines once again in 1989 when she tied the knot with 'Mötley Crüe' singer, Niki Sixx. Although the marriage didn't last for long, she has three beautiful children from the alliance - Gunner, Storm, and Decker.
Jennifer Lyons
Born in Pasadena into a family of creatively inclined people, Jennifer Lyons gravitated towards the performing arts from a very young age. For nearly 17 years, a dance student, the alluring young lady performed on many of Europe's most prestigious stages.
Appearing in three episodes on 'Married...with Children,' Jennifer's hilarious portrayal of Ariel, a simple girl with a heart of gold, catapulted her onto a whole new level of stardom. Since then, she has been a popular and regularly working actress and comedienne with countless adoring and loyal fans.
